Our secondary school ”Dante Alighieri” is located in Spoleto, a little but very nice medieval city in the centre of Italy near Perugia (60 km.) and Terni (28 km.). Spoleto is famous in the world for the ”Festival of Two Worlds” which is a World Wide attraction that involves music, dance and drama.

In our school there are 16 classes (5 forms completed more one classe) with pupils from 11 to 13 years old. Our school is very big. There are many laboratories: arts, foreign languages, sciences, multimedia, videos, watching cds-rom, sports and a library. There is also a big room “aula magna” for conferences. Around the school there is a large garden with secular threes. We have one headmaster and 39 teachers and three native-speakers for Spanish, Dutch and English languages. Our pupils learn English and French in the morning and Spanish and Dutch (if they choose them) in the afternoon. After the school they come back to school for drama, music choir and sports
In our school, every year, there are the “Maths games” with the help of Bocconi University. We have a multimedia laboratory with 19 Pentium II-III with router for Internet and a local net for lessons. We produce web projects. We teach to our pupils to create web pages and animations with flash Program and we teach them how to use the computer and the use of some Office programs (Word-PowerPoint-Outlook-Publisher). Other colleagues use their skills to support teachers, students, parents, computer of the library  and to update the school web-site.
Our school is a test center for the European Computer Driving (ECDL).
We have also two centers in Baiano (6 Km) (two forms) and in Campello on Clitunno (one form) (13 Km).
 

1. Laboratories
Multimedia laboratory: we have one server and 19 Pc in local net (IDMNET) and internet with a router ADSL. The local net permits to the teacher to watch by a monitor all pupils working and it permits to the pupils to take the lessons watching the teacher's monitor. The teacher  can also  take part on the pupil’s mouse. In this laboratory we have some paints, one web cam, one scanner, one video camera one digital-photo camera, one cds-creator. The pupils love multimedia and so they learn in an amusing way.
Art classroom: there is a Pentium III with one paint, one scanner and graphic-softwares for shows
and multimedia presentations
Science laboratory: It is a new and equipped laboratory with a Pentium III for electronic data processing
Gym: there is a Pentium I for league standing
Video room: There is a Pentium II with a maxi-monitor to watch cds-rom or videos with the pupils.
 

2. Class rooms
Now we have got 16 notebooks to use in each classroom. In each one there is a maxi screen connected in wireless by a sever.
 

3. Principals office
He has got a Pentium III. He uses Word to write long and long letters for us!

 

4. Administration
There are 4 Pc in the administration office. Two in the net  with our Ministry (SISSI) and two for database (pupils, families, teachers….)

 

5. Library
Giovanna (our likeable librarian) is very nice with pupils. She lends books, cds-rom, videos, and now she is very very proud because she has learnt to use computer. She has a Pc in the net, by Internet, with other schools of Spoleto  for a project about libraries called “Bibliomedia”.
Thanks to this project you can research 7.000 books by author or by title.
